Our approach and methodology

In an individual setting “holistic” refers to addressing the whole person, including their physical, mental, and emotional health, while taking social
factors into consideration, whereas in community development, our approach is to take the opportunity, to listen, to reflect, to learn, and to craft
responses and solutions that are based and rooted in the ideas of people who live and work in the communities that we work with. Social development
is therefore about improving the well-being of every individual in society so they can reach their full potential. The success of community and society
is linked to the well-being of every citizen. Social development means investing in people, we believe that if families do well, the entire society will
benefit. FAMSA Limpopo also believes that “when a family is in its position, there is direction in the family”. Working from a social development
approach implies that we work towards meeting the needs of people, protects and promotes their rights, manage social problems, facilitate optimal
use of opportunities, as well as empowerment of people and social inclusion. As a result of all these changes over time, our name changed in 2010
to Families South Africa -Limpopo (FAMSA Limpopo)
